2 workers injured while installing Ferris wheel in Virginia
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Two workers in Virginia were injured when a panel on the Ferris wheel they were installing fell.
The Virginian-Pilot cites a release from the city of Norfolk that says both workers were hospitalized for injuries believed to be not life-threatening on Tuesday evening.
They were part of the crews installing the 12-story Skystar Observation Wheel at Norfolk’s Waterside District. The 137-foot-tall Ferris wheel will open Saturday, and will remain in Norfolk until September.
The city says there is no danger of more falling parts.
