January 5, 2019

Three of seven seats on the North Augusta City Council are up for grabs and those wishing to enter the primary can do so starting Tuesday.

The seats of Ken McDowell, Bob Brooks and Jimmy Adams are up for reelection. All seats are at-large.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 until noon on Jan. 15, candidates can enter their party’s primary or convention, and entries must be made to the chairperson of the party, according to an ordinance passed by City Council on Dec. 3.

Primary elections are to be held on Feb. 12, with a runoff, if necessary, on Feb. 26.

Candidates may file by petition with no less than 5 percent of qualified electors, and the deadline to file is at noon on February 13.

The general election is set for April 30.
