Public Health Madison and Dane County said in the daily beach closing report at 8:40 a.m. Thursday all nine beaches have algae problems, and Vilas Beach on Lake Wingra also has an elevated level of bacteria.

The nine beaches closed include Brittingham, Hudson Park Lake Access Point and Olbrich on Lake Monona; Marshall, Memorial Union Pier, Spring Harbor and Warner on Lake Mendota; Vilas on Lake Wingra and Goodland County Park on Lake Waubesa.

Open beaches include BB Clarke, Bernies, Esther, Frost Woods, Olin and Schluter on Lake Monona; James Madison, Lake Mendota County Park and Tenney on Lake Mendota; and Stewart County Park on Stewart Lake.

Beach conditions can change, so check the Public Health web page for updates.
