Young mother in critical condition after collision with semi
DIXON – A 22-year-old Dixon mother is in critical condition and her baby also is hospitalized in the wake of a collision Friday afternoon with a semi at Warp and Franklin Grove roads.
Tiffany M. Koehler and her 1-year-old daughter were northbound on Warp just before 5 p.m. when she pulled onto Franklin Grove Road and was struck by an eastbound semi, which pushed her Ford Focus into the westbound lane where it was struck again by a westbound pickup, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Koehler was taken to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. The baby was flown to MercyHealth Hospital in Rockford, and by Sunday, was breathing on her own, eating and responding normally, the release said.
Semi driver Eugene Cook, 63, of Waterloo, Wisconsin, and pickup driver Dustin Kibble, 36, of Dixon, were not injured, the release said.
