Dec. 22, 1968: Rifle Shot Kills Girl In Mishap
A 17-year-old high school girl was killed here Friday when her brother, playing with what he thought was an empty rifle, fired across the hall she was walking through.
Dec. 22, 1993: With a strong economy producing a huge increase in revenue, the Legislative Finance Committee said Tuesday that it wants to give New Mexicans $93 million in tax cuts next year and to increase spending by 7.4 percent.
In a proposed state budget unveiled at a state Capitol press conference, the LFC would spend a total of $2,538 billion. That’s about $175 million more than has been appropriated for the current year.
