No. 19 USF visits No. 12 UCF with AAC East Division at stake

No. 19 South Florida (9-1, 6-1 AAC) at No. 12 Central Florida (10-0, 7-0, CFP No. 15), Friday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC).

Line: UCF by 10.

Series record: USF leads 6-2.


Besides the 160-pound War on I-4 Trophy, the American’s East Division title and a spot in the conference championship game on Dec. 2 is on the line. If UCF wins, it would host Memphis. USF would need a win and a Memphis loss to East Carolina in order to host.


USF’s pass defense vs. UCF QB McKenzie Milton. The Bulls are second in the nation with 17 interceptions, including four by S Devin Abraham. Milton, a sophomore, is second in the nation in passing efficiency (186.1), completion percentage (69.6) and passing yards per attempt (10.61). He also has 26 touchdowns and only five interceptions.


USF: QB Quinton Flowers. The senior is the seventh FBS player to have at least 7,000 passing and 3,000 career rushing yards. He has 10,780 total yards and needs 96 to become the school’s career total offense leader.

UCF: CB Mike Hughes. The junior is the first player in school history to have punt return, kick returns and interception returns for touchdowns in the same season. He is fifth in the nation in kick return average (30.6 yards) along with having 11 kick/punt returns of 20 yards or more.


UCF is one of four remaining unbeaten teams nationally, along with Alabama (11-0), Miami (10-0) and Wisconsin (11-0). ... The Knights’ offense has produced 69 plays of 20 yards or more, with 14 resulting in touchdowns. ... South Florida and UCF are just two of 11 teams to be in the top 30 in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The Knights lead the nation in scoring offense (48.6 points per game) and have scored 30 or more in all 10 games. ... South Florida is 4-10 on the road against ranked teams with its last win coming at No. 16 Notre Dame on Sept. 3, 2011, (23-20). ... This will be the 250th game in South Florida’s history.
