Fire in garage causes $100,000 in damage to Hooper home
HOOPER — A garage fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a Hooper home Saturday evening.
At 8 p.m., Saturday, July 14, the Weber Fire District responded to a structure fire at 5693 W. 5725 South where a fire had started in the garage, according to Weber Battalion Chief Casey Naef. Smoke and flame were visible from the garage doors and windows on arrival.
The fire spread into the attic, but firefighters were able to keep it from spreading beyond the kitchen of the home, Naef said.
The garage was a total loss and two vehicles inside it were destroyed by the fire, he said.
One firefighter was sent to the hospital with a difficulty of breathing due to the heat.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental, Naef said.
Firefighters from Roy, Riverdale and North Davis also responded to the scene.
