NEW DELHI, India (AP) _ Two Indian navy planes collided in midair and crashed in western India on Tuesday, an air force official said.

The planes crashed onto a building in the Indian Ocean resort city of Goa, television stations reported.

There was no immediate word on casualties from the accident, and no information on whether the jets were participating in U.S.-India naval war exercises, taking place over the Indian Ocean.

The air force official, speaking in New Delhi on condition of anonymity, said the planes were navy transport aircraft.

Zee News, an independent television station, said they were flying in formation and collided, but no source for the information was given.
