University of Idaho faces lawsuits over sex assault case

October 20, 2017

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The University of Idaho is being sued by a woman who says she was sexually assaulted by a man and the man who contends the school’s system was biased against him.

The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/2ywT7zG) in a story on Thursday that the woman’s federal lawsuit contends the school violated federal law by allowing the female student to be subjected to discrimination that prevented her from participating fully in the education program, including participating in her graduation.

The man in his lawsuit in state court contends the university made numerous procedural errors and policy mistakes that robbed him of due process, and that a gag order interfered with his free speech rights.

Both lawsuits contend the school’s actions have caused problems in subsequent employment and education opportunities.

University spokeswoman Jodi Walker says the school doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
