Friends remember Michigan newlywed couple killed in crash
ALLEGAN, Mich. (AP) — A newlywed couple were killed in a crash in western Michigan just a few miles away from where they tied the knot less than a month ago.
Family members and friends are remembering 24-year-old Logan Thunderland Allbaugh and 22-year-old Hannah (Kwekel) Allbaugh as kind young people who loved unconditionally.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said the Allbaughs died Tuesday in Heath Township after a car drove through a stop sign and struck their vehicle. The couple’s car then spun out into southbound lanes, where it was hit by another vehicle.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
“It’s been so hard to process,” said Ryan Valero, who had just watched his best friend Logan Allbaugh marry his “perfect match” on June 23. “They were some of the greatest people to walk this Earth. They were meant to be together.”
Valero said Logan Allbaugh was his first friend when he moved to Hamilton as a sophomore in high school. He said they bonded over video games and music. Logan Allbaugh had been working at a local Guitar Center and gave music lessons.
Hannah Allbaugh worked as a bartender in Allegan. The couple had moved into a home together a few months before their wedding, which was held at a friend’s house in Hamilton just blocks away from where the accident took place.
A memorial service hadn’t been set as of Wednesday.
“They were just great people,” Valero said. “The impact they made on people won’t be forgotten.”
