RANDY GALLEGOS — BOYS SOCCER

Lake Havasu junior Randy Gallegos had a hat trick with two assists and six steals in the Knights 15-0 win over River Valley on Tuesday.

Gallegos has scored five of the 25 goals Havasu has netted this season and has assisted on three of those total goals.

In just two games, Gallegos has already past his total goals from last year in which he scored four in 15 games played.

Gallegos attributes his and his team early success to a new found communication on the field that has the Knights in sync.

“We feel really good,” Gallegos said. “We’re communicating more and not letting teams score on us. We’re talking on the field, telling each other whats going on behind them. We’ve become more of a family than a team.”

HAYLEY BARTEL — GIRLS BASKETBALL

After not scoring any points in her first game of the season, sophomore Hayley Bartel led the Knights with nine points in Lake Havasu’s come from behind 37-32 victory over River Valley on Monday.

This is Bartel’s first year on the varsity squad and being able to do her part has her encouraged for the rest of the season.

“It felt really cool to be able to contribute to the success we had,” Bartel said. “I’ve just been working on my shot, in practice and out of practice. So I was glad it paid off and I was able to help the team win.”

The win was the Knights first of the season and first since Dec. 12 of last year.

“We’ve been on a 15-game losing streak,” Bartel said. “We’ve been putting in a lot of hard work at practice, so to finally get the win felt really good.”
