Exploding TV Kills Woman

July 7, 1986

DALLAS (AP) _ A 29-year-old woman bled to death after a television set exploded in her sister’s bedroom and flying jagged glass slashed major blood vessels in her throat, authorities said.

Cynthia Barrientos died Sunday at Methodist Central Hospital, officials said.

Her sister, Beatrice Beltran, told police the television had been damaged earlier in the day during an argument Mrs. Beltran had with her husband, said homicide investigator J.J. Coghlin.

Ms. Barrientos had gone to the house to help her sister straighten the house up, and turned on the television set to see if it still worked.
