Larry Riesen, 70, Watertown

Larry E. Riesen, 70, Watertown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018.

A funeral service with military rites will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home with the Rev. David Phillips officiating. Family and friends may gather from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

Larry Elliot Riesen was born Nov. 28, 1947, to Paul and Marjorie (nee Griffith) Riesen in Columbus. Larry graduated from Waupun High School. Larry served two tours in Vietnam in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970, receiving two Purple Hearts, then joined the Reserves upon his discharge. On July 24, 1998, Larry married Diane at Sandy Beach in Lake Mills. Larry worked at 7-Up bottling in Watertown for 43 years, starting in bottling, becoming a route driver, and then driving semi, until his retirement in 2013. Larry was an avid bowler, enjoyed cheering on the Packers and Badgers, watching NASCAR, being outdoors doing yard work, feeding birds and watching wildlife. He was happy to participate in small construction projects, and was adept at small engine repair working with Mike McDonald. He was a member of the Lebanon Lion’s Club, the Richwood VFW, and sat on the board of Hidden Meadows.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, Brad (Laura) Riesen, and Brian and (fiancé Jennifer Vogt) Riesen; grandchildren, Logan (Amber Brinks) Riesen, Brock (Rachael Stolpa) Riesen, Dominic, Alexis Riesen, Marin Riesen, Breckan Riesen, Meyer Riesen, and Owen Riesen; great-granddaughter, Addilynn; father, Paul Riesen; brothers, David (Jeanne) Riesen, Paul (Linda) Riesen and Ernie (Barbara) Riesen; sisters, Irma Owens, Beth (Chuck) Feller, and Wendy Bonilla; brothers-in-law, Brian (Sharon) Zabel and Dale Zabel; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and his four cats, Olivia, Tabby (aka “Big Boy”), Sly, and Maggie Mae.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie; stepmother, Audrey; sister, Bonnie Hale; and parents-in-law, Russell and Hazel Zabel.
