Overturned tanker spills hot tar, closes LA highway
LOS ANGELES (AP) — All westbound lanes of a Los Angeles highway are closed after a tanker truck overturned and spilled hot tar across lanes.
Fire Department officials say the driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the single-vehicle crash late Monday on Interstate 210 in the Sylmar area.
Crews spent the night trying to clean the sticky mess from lanes in hopes of reopening the highway in time for the Tuesday morning commute.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
