Authorities investigate fatal shooting in Norwood
NORWOOD, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are investigating an early morning fatal shooting at a Norwood apartment complex.
A call came in alerting police to the sound of either fireworks or gunshots at the Dean Street apartment complex shortly before 2 a.m. Monday.
Responding officers found the victim at the rear entrance of a building. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced.
The Norfolk district attorney’s office says the victim is 28 years old, but his name has not been released pending notification of family.
There have been no arrests, but District Attorney Michael Morrissey and Chief William Brooks III said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
The death was the first homicide in town since 2008.
