Former Prime Minister Syafrudin Prawiranegara Dies
JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) _ Syafrudin Prawiranegara, who served as Indonesia’s prime minister in 1948-49 and later rebelled against Sukarno, the nation’s first president, has died at the age of 76.
Syafrudin died of heart failure Wednesday.
He was minister of economics when he took over as prime minister in 1948 after the former Dutch colonial rulers captured Sukarno at Jogjakarta, Central Java.

Syafrudin became an Islamic preacher after leaving government.
