Shelter opens for Black Creek residents

FLORENCE, S.C. – The American Red Cross has opened a shelter for residents in the Black Creek community.

Those residents were asked to evacuate Sunday afternoon because of rising water in Black Creek.

The shelter is located at the National Guard Armory at 400 South Greer Road.

It is readily available to them to utilize.

An immediate mandatory evacuation order was issued for Nena Lane, Spilt Rail Drive, East Black Creek Drive, Staghorn Lane, Atlee Court, Crooked Creek Drive and Creekside Drive to be completed as soon as possible Sunday afternoon.

Residents evacuating were asked to leave with some proof of residency for re-entry purposes once the order to evacuate is rescinded.
