Hanover Twp. Officer Hurt Taking Suspect Into Custody
HANOVER TWP. — A township police officer was injured while taking a man into custody Saturday night, according to Hanover Twp. police.
Officers arrested Darius M. Rodriguez, 25, shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday following a domestic disturbance during which Rodriguez assaulted a woman at a Little Street residence, police said in a news release.
Rodriguez resisted arrest and an officer was hurt while placing him in custody, police said. The news release does not mention the injured officer’s condition. The woman was treated for minor injuries at the scene, police said.
Rodriguez, of Hanover Twp., was charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and criminal trespass, and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, marijuana possession and disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned Sunday and remains in Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 28.
