European Stocks End Lower
LONDON (AP) _ European stocks closed mostly lower Tuesday as the price of crude oil continued to climb.
The Dow Jones Stoxx Index of shares in European companies fell 1.92 points, or 0.5 percent, to 392.93.
The Dow Jones Euro Stoxx Index, which tracks companies in countries that joined the single currency, fell 1.44 points to 435.61. The Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 Index fell 16.6 points to 5217.2 and the Dow Jones Stoxx 50 Index fell 17.7 points to 5042.3.
A Nasdaq slide Monday further encouraged investors out of high growth across Europe Tuesday.
As crude oil prices continued to climb, despite an agreed output hike by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, oil-dependent manufacturers and transport companies slipped.
London’s FTSE-100 Share Index fell 0.4 percent, to 6555.5; Frankfurt’s Xetra DAX Index fell 1.0 percent, while the Paris CAC-40 Index was up 0.3 percent, and Zurich’s SMI Index down 0.7 percent.
