NYPD: Off-duty officer fatally shoots gas station robber
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Police Department says an off-duty police officer shot and killed a man attempting to hold up a gas station in Brooklyn.
Police say the unidentified officer was at the gas station late Monday when two men walked up to his car with a gun. Authorities say the officer identified himself as a police officer and when the two suspects turned him with their guns in their hands, police say he opened fire.
One of the suspects was hit in the torso and wounded. The other fled the scene.
The wounded suspect was rushed to an area hospital where he later died. The NYPD says the officer was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
