HHS tops Riverside in boys basketball

BELLE, W.Va — Dionn Sims scored 21 points to help Huntington High (2-1) to an 88-59 victory over Riverside Monday night in boys high school basketball.

Tanner Stevens scored 14 points, Kris Brown 13 and Torin Lochow 10 for the Highlandesr, who finished with a 43-27 rebounding edge. Garrick Hawkins tallied 10 assists.

Javante Elzy and Brian Massey each scored 16 for the Warriors.

Huntington High returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fairland.

BOYD COUNTY 85, MENIFEE COUNTY 72: Marshall University signee Savannah Wheeler scored 48 points as the Lions defeated the Wildcats. Emma Hacker led Meniffee County with 29 points.

SOUTH POINT 47, LEWIS COUNTY 39: The Pointers (5-0) built a 38-14 lead and held on for the victory over the Lions. Emilee Carey led South Point with 16 points, hitting 4 of 5 3-point shots. Payton McGlone led Lewis County with 10 points.

SOUTH GALLIA 66, RIVER VALLEY 56: Braxton Hardy scored 26 points to pace the Rebels (4-2) over the Raiders (1-4). Jared Burdette and Garrett Saunders each scored 10. Jordan Lambert led River Valley with 27 points, followed by Layne Fitch with 10.

GREEN 60, MANCHESTER 47: Gage Sampson led the Bobcats with 26 points in a triumph over the Greyhounds. Tayte Carver and Zach Huffman each scored 10 points.

RIVER VALLEY 64, SOUTH GALLIA 45: The Raiders (4-5) snapped a four-game losing streak as Hannah Jacks scored 17 points. Beth Gillman scored 16 and Lauren Twyman 13. Kylie Stapleton led the Rebels (1-7) with 15 points. Amaya Howell chipped in 10.

SYMMES VALLEY 59, SOUTHERN 35: Rachael Hayes scored 14 points and Jenna Malone 13 as the Vikings (5-2) defeated the Tornadoes (0-7) in Wollow Wood, Ohio. Kayla Evans led Southern with 19 points. Phoenix Cleland scored 10.

COAL GROVE 51, LUCASVILLE VALLEY 39: Addi Dillow scored 15 points and Baylee McKnight 13 as the Hornets topped the Indians. Bre Call scored 17 points for Lucasville Valley.
