Early spring snow causing some travel woes in Pennsylvania

April 2, 2018

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — An early spring snow is creating some slick travel conditions in Pennsylvania.

A wintry mix started falling across the state early Monday and was expected to continue through the morning. But the snow was only accumulating on grass and colder surfaces in most areas, and no major accumulations were being reported.

Officials say most major roads are just wet, but they’re still urging drivers to be cautious. They warn that slushy conditions in some areas could create slippery conditions, especially during the morning commute.

Some schools were holding delayed openings and few were closed. But many districts are on spring break this week.

The National Weather Service says up to 2 inches is possible in the Philadelphia area, while 2 to 5 inches could fall in western Pennsylvania.
