Texas Southern 26, Sam Houston State 17

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) _ Cedrick Douglas threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 159 yards and another score, carrying Texas Southern to a 26-20 victory over Sam Houston State on Saturday night.

TSU (3-1) scored its final two touchdowns within a three-minute span early in the fourth quarter to go ahead 26-6. Sam Houston (1-4) made the final score close by scoring two touchdowns in the final 1:50.

Sam Houston led 3-0 on a 45-yard field goal by Marcus Hajdik early in the first quarter. He also kicked a 41-yarder early in the fourth quarter.

In between, TSU scored 20 unanswered points on a 9-yard pass from Douglas to Markus Howell, a 2-yard run by Douglas and a 27-yard pass from Douglas to David Thomas.

Douglas also set up TSU’s final touchdown _ a 10-yard run by Leon Clark _ with a 70-yard run.

Sam Houston quarterback Chris Schramek was 13-of-29 for 149 yards.
