15 People Apply For Vacant W-B Area School Board Seat

November 14, 2018

Fifteen people have applied to be appointed to a vacant seat on the Wilkes-Barre Area School Board.

Superintendent Brian Costello on Wednesday afternoon released the list of people who applied by Tuesday’s deadline.

They are: Mark Atherton, Brian Brown, Joseph P. Busch, Mary Susan Pomanek-Elias, Beth Anne Harris, Christine Katsock, Robert Holden, Richard Holidick, Jessica McClay, Carl Naessig, Patrick Patte, Mark Schiowitz, Lisa Sliker, John Suchoski, and David Wilson.

Applicants are looking to replace Dino L. Galella, 65, a retired teacher and former school administrator who was first elected in 2011.

Galella resigned from the school board on Oct. 29 because he moved out of the district to live near his grandchildren.

The successful candidate will be chosen by the remaining eight board members at the Nov. 27 school board meeting, Costello said.
