Man critical after Fairfield shooting
FAIRFIELD - A man, who was shot in the chest Tuesday evening, is in critical condition at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
At 9:07 p.m., the Fairfield Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from an employee at Wings Over Fairfield, 2075 Black Rock Turnpike, reporting that a male was shot in the back of the building.
Police were on scene within seconds of the 911 call and were directed to the rear of the building where they found a male lying on his back in the rear hallway of the establishment.
Police immediately rendered first aid to the male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was transported to St. Vincent’s in Bridgeport where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in critical condition.
Lt. Robert Kalamaras said Wednesday morning the shooting “is currently believed to be self inflicted and accidental.”
The name of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of family.
