Di’s Ex-Butler in NYC Marathon
NEW YORK (AP) _ Princess Diana’s former butler will run in the New York City Marathon on Sunday to raise money for charities in her memory.
Paul Burrell, who was a trusted confidant of the princess, will be raising funds for the London-based Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund during the 26-mile run through the city, said Paula Turner, a spokeswoman for the New York Road Runners Club.
Burrell has traveled widely as fund-raising manager for the fund, which provides money for charities sponsored by the princess, including the international campaign against land mines.
Diana died in an auto crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997.
Burrell started working for Diana in 1980, before she and Prince Charles became engaged.
