Christ Presby to host special services

HUNTINGTON - Christ Presbyterian Church of Huntington recently marked its second anniversary on July 10, 2018, and have planned to commemorate the occasion with a special worship services throughout the month of August. Their first celebration is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 12, and will welcome the Rev. Amy Poling Sutherlun. In this service, Sutherlun will be joined by her husband, Rev. Joshua Sutherlun along with co-pastors from San Marcos Presbyterian Church in San Marcos, Texas.

The Rev. Amy Sutherlun is the author of “God’s Promise: I Am With You.” Her book is a new Bible study for the 2018-19 year and is published by PW Horizons Bible Study Series. Her book is written to help teach Sunday School classes, and orchestrate small groups in Bible studies.

The next event hosted by Christ Presbyterian Church is set for Celebration Sunday, Aug. 19, when the congregation will kick off the church’s official program year. Christ Presbyterian’s pastor, the Rev. Dr. John C. Minihan, will preach on a Scripture from Hebrews to encourage the chance to “Spur One Another On.” Children in first through third grades will be given a new Bible during worship. At the Aug. 19 service, members and guests in attendance are invited to a celebration luncheon hosted in Christ Presbyterian’s Social Hall.

Christ Presbyterian Church is an evangelical Bible-believing congregation that meets at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday for worship and at 9:30 a.m. for Sunday School. They are located at B’nai Sholom Temple, 949 10th Ave., on the corner of 10th Street and 10th Avenue, next to the YMCA. The church also sponsors midweek youth programs, Bible studies and opportunities for missions in the community and abroad.
