Buyer announced for plant headed for closure
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) — A buyer has been announced for a Brattleboro paper plant, potentially saving 100 workers from planned layoffs.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports Washington-based Human Capital Investments has reached a definitive agreement to purchase the Neenah Paper mill, and the expected closing date is on or near Dec. 31.
Neenah previously announced it was closing the facility and eliminating jobs by the end of November.
Bill McCarthy, the company’s vice president of financial analysis, says they are pleased with the opportunity to keep the jobs.
Officials have not commented on the purchase price of the facility.
Human Capital Investments partner Ben Rankin says they could not have completed the purchase without the help of state officials and the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation.
