State police in Kittanning warn of phone scams
State police in Kittanning issued a warning for residents to not give out any financial or person identification information to callers.
State police recently have received a number of phone calls about scams in the area.
Members of the public reported to the station that a caller claiming to be from the state police is trying to collect money for credit cards debts, for fallen troopers’ families and a number of other reasons, according to a Tuesday news release.
State troopers do not collect delinquent money nor do they use phone calls to collect for charities and such calls are a scam, police said.
