BASEBALL: Meyers Edges Hanover Area

April 10, 2019

At Gibby Field, Meyers pushed across three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Hanover Area 8-7 in WVC baseball Tuesday.

Caden Strobel led off the Meyers seventh inning with a single, and Luke Bottger followed by reaching on an error. With one out, Blake Bynon ripped a two-run double to tie the game. After the second out of the inning, Jacob Ostrowski singled to left to score the winning run.

Talee Swinney picked up the win for the Mohawks.

Connor Hummer homered for Hanover Area, while EJ Murphy had a triple and RBI. Connor Quaglia had two hits.

At Hollenback Park, Holy Redeemer finished the day with 12 hits, five of them for extra bases, as the Royals won their third conference game of the year.

David Wickiser picked up the win to move to 2-1 on the year. He helped his own cause at the plate with two hits, including a triple and two runs scored.

Patrick Zarola had two hits and drove in a run, while Frankie Desiderio had two hits and three RBIs. Colin Conway added two hits and two RBIs.

Kam Taylor had a double for GAR, while George Placencio tripled. Jared O’Day hit his first home run of the year.
