Back on the water

April 9, 2019

Now that the ice of winter 2019 is mostly a memory, boat anglers are back out on Lake Michigan. Sunday morning a stream of boats trolling near-shore fished along the sandbars, presumably for brown trout. The anglers in this boat net a fish they landed off M116 in Ludington State Park. A few minutes later, they netted another they caught. For those going fishing, remember new licenses were required as of April 1. A couple new rules also went into effect. The daily limit for lake perch is now in 25 fish. Aquatic vegetation and organisms must be removed from boats and trailers and bilge and live well plugs removed to drain water after removing a boat from any lake or stream and before transporting it on the road.
