Girls take to the volleyball court at Fairland West
ROME TOWNSHIP, Ohio — This is the time of year the sound of basketballs bouncing is intertwined with the ping of bats connecting with baseballs and softballs, but at Fairland West Elementary, another sound joins the chorus.
Volleyballs thumping off wrists resonated throughout the gym as the Fairland Volleyball League began its season last week. Games continue through April 19. The league is headed by former Fairland standout and Marshall University softball star Carrie Hinkle Roland and features eight teams.
