Gov. Baker swears in 6 cabinet secretaries
BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker is welcoming members of his cabinet who will help guide the new Republican chief executive’s policy initiatives.
In one of his first official acts following his own swearing-in Thursday, Baker administered oaths of office to Secretary of Administration and Finance Kristen Lepore, Secretary of Education James Peyser, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Jay Ash, Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Matthew Beaton, Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders and Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Ron Walker;
Baker has yet to name secretaries for transportation and public safety.
Lepore says her staff will work in the days ahead to determine the extent of the state budget deficit and possible solutions.
Baker said in his inaugural address that the deficit resulted from a “spending problem.”
