Rescued Cats Recovering Nicely
CARBONDALE — Two cats found wrapped in a duffel bag on railroad tracks were recovering nicely Wednesday, an animal shelter official said. Mayor Justin Taylor said a passerby found the cats and brought them to city police, who have few leads on where the cats came from. Police took them to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter where shelter medical manager Jesse Diaz examined them. Diaz said they are about 2 years old and acted “fractious” at first before warming up and showing no serious after-effects. “It’s heartbreaking,” Diaz said. They should become available for adoption later today, he said.
