FLORENCE, S.C. – The inaugural Greater Pee Dee State Fair has announced several additions to the upcoming 11-day festivities.
Daily helicopter rides will be available throughout the duration of the Sept. 6-16 fair dates for a separate fee. Carolina Helicopters is offering “The Total Helicopter Experience” and will fly guests around the vicinity and over the city for spectacular views and photo opportunities.
Street dancers have been added to the attractions list. Fair attendees can witness a mix of technical skills, dance flare, humor, beatboxing and agility.
Also, 4-H groups and STEM leaders will join the Greater Pee Dee State Fair in efforts to promote positive youth development and mentoring. Visitors might encounter animal displays, agriculture exhibits and livestock information. Guests can interact with 4-H members and discuss opportunities and involvement with the program.
Members of 4-H are invited to attend the fair free on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Members wearing a 4-H shirt or with a 4-H membership card will get free access to the fair festivities.
Also occurring on Sept. 11 is “First Responders and Military Appreciation Night.”Police, EMS, sheriff, fire, rescue and military personnel are invited to the fair free on that day when in uniform or with proper ID.
“It’s our privilege to host this special event for our local heroes,” said Nick Hooker, director of marketing for the Florence Center and the Greater Pee Dee State Fair. “This is a small token of our appreciation for their service and to commemorate, honor and give back to those who serve our community. We hope to see many in uniform enjoying the activities and live performances at no cost.”
