SIOUX CITY -- The 15th annual Woodbury County Conservation Foundation fundraiser brought in more than $55,000.

The Nature Calls fundraiser at the Sioux City Convention Center raised money to benefit the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center’s educational programs.

The event combined a nature art show, auction, raffles, beer and wine tasting in a casual atmosphere that drew more than 650 people.

Dawn Snyder, programs director for the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center, said the response from sponsors and the community was extremely generous.

The proceeds from Nature Calls will provide supplemental funding for summer naturalist interns to provide youth and family programs and exhibit enhancements at the nature center, which is in Stone State Park on the city’s northwest side.
