Pakistan Executes Four Men
LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) _ Pakistan on Wednesday executed four men who had been sentenced to death for the 1991 murders of seven people.
The men were hanged in Kot Lakhpat Jail in the Punjab provincial capital of Lahore after Pakistan’s president denied their appeal for clemency, said Mohammed Farooq, jail superintendent.
The men were found guilty of killing six members of the same family, as well as a female bystander caught in the cross fire. The killings were apparently related to a land dispute.
This is only the second time in Pakistan’s history that more than one person has been hanged in a single case. The last time was in 1979 when four men were executed for the killing of a child.
