Critical shooting on Springbreeze
One man was in critical condition Monday following an early-morning shooting.
According to police, the victim was taken to a hospital by private vehicle about 4 a.m., about 20 minutes after an emergency call was placed from the 9200 block of Springbreeze Court on the city’s west side. Police say while on the phone with dispatchers, the caller thought gunshots could be heard outside.
Police are investigating to determine whether the two incidents are connected.

Horse killed in Angola barn fire
A horse is dead after a Sunday morning barn fire in rural Angola.
About 11 a.m., the Metz Volunteer Fire Department responded to 8660 East County Road 15 North to find a pole barn engulfed in flames, the department said in a statement.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes and 50,000 gallons of water to get the fire under control, the statement said.
Firefighters were unable to save the horse or the structure, which was valued at $55,000.
No humans were injured in the fire. The cause is under investigation.
