Boswell magistrate reports: Oct. 12

The following preliminary hearings are scheduled before District Judge Susan Mankamyer in Boswell:

Corruption of minors

Jason Shippey, 57, West Campus Avenue, Davidsville, has been charged with third-degree felony corruption of minors, second-degree felony sexual assault, felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old. According to a probable-cause affidavit, a 7-year-old girl told authorities that in August Shippey had put his hand in her underwear while lying in bed with her. The girl described the incident as “uncomfortable,” according to the affidavit. Shippey was arraigned Thursday by Mankamyer and is free on a nonmonetary bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Oct. 31.

Driving under the influence

Joshua Romesburg, 21, North Main Street, Friedens, has been charged with driving under the influence, intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered and two summary offenses. According to a probable-cause affidavit, at about 6:41 p.m. Sept. 2 state police stopped a vehicle driven by Romesburg along Main Street in Boswell due to Romesburg having an active warrant for his arrest. Police found methamphetamine and an opioid in the vehicle. A blood test showed Romesburg had multiple drugs in his system at the time of the stop, including methamphetamine, according to the affidavit. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Nov. 7.

Theft

Josef Mahler, 20, Edie Road, Somerset, has been charged with theft of services and theft by unlawful taking. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Mahler charged $557.13 worth of personal costs to an Indian Lake Marina card while working there since late July. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Nov. 7.
