Latham Earns Second, Third for Chelmsford

CAMBRIDGE -- Chelmsford High sophomore Laura Latham placed second in the 100 butterfly (58.69) and third in the 50 freestyle (24.87) at the MIAA Division 1 State Swimming and Diving Championship Meet at Harvard University’s Blodgett Pool on Sunday.

Chelmsford finished ninth as a team with 129 points.

Lowell’s Zoe Szczesuil had a strong meet, placing eighth in the 200 freestyle (2:03.55) and 11th in the 500 freestyle (5:36.87).

The Red Raiders were 14th in the team standings with 55 points.

Perennial power Andover finished first with 518 points. Acton-Boxboro was second with 224 points, and Newton North was third with 206.5 points.

The top 16 placewinners in each event scored points.

Chelmsford

The Lions’ 200 freestyle relay team of Angelina Kam, Kelly Marshall, Alex Kam and Latham posted a fifth-place finish in 1:44.76.

The 200 medley relay team of Brynn Murray, Courtney Morgan, Melia Marshall and Angelina Kam finished in ninth place in 1:57.83.

In the 100 breaststroke, Morgan was eighth in 1:09.73; Chloe Molinari was 14th in 1:12.45 and Lily Boilard was 16th in 1:12.73.

Alex Kam, Kelly Marshall, Neva Sa and Latham teamed up for a ninth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:48.94.

Sa finished 13th in the 200 freestyle (2:05.89) and 500 freestyle (5:38.17).

In the 100 butterfly, Kelly Marshall came through with a 14th-place finish in 1:03.47.

Morgan was 15th in the 200 I.M. in 2:22.99.

Alana Erlandson placed 13th in the - meter diving with a score of 322.30.

Lowell

Molly McAnespie placed ninth in 1-meter diving for the Red Raiders with a score of 328.45.

Sophia Cigliano was 12th in the 200 freestyle in 2:05.87, and placed 13th in the 100 freestyle in 57.66.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Lily Diamantopoulos, Mayla Touch, Jackie Ngo and Cigliano teamed up for a 13th-place finish in 1:52.96.

Bella Marsden, Szczesuil, Diamantopoulos and Ngo teamed up for 14th-place finish in the 200 medley relay in 2:05.66. The 400 freestyle relay team of Diamantopoulos, Szczesuil, Touch and Cigliano placed 14th in 4:05.91.
