Florence County Sheriff’s investigator charged with misconduct

August 22, 2018

FLORENCE, S.C. – A former Florence County Sheriff’s Office investigator has been charged with misconduct in office.

According to records of the Florence County Detention Center, Mike Lahmer Jack, 54, of Florence, was arrested on July 19. Jack was booked into the detention center at 9:04 a.m. and released on the same day at 9:58 a.m. on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

It is not known at this time what penalties are associated with the charge of misconduct while office. However, it has been identified as a crime of moral turpitude which, if Jack is convicted of, would prevent him from running for office for 10 years.

Maj. Michael Nunn, the public information officer for the sheriff’s office, confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Jack, who was an investigator with the sheriff’s office, was terminated on June 21 after allegations were made that Jack illegally purchased prescription drugs.

The investigation is ongoing, Nunn added.
