GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Autecs, a joint venture that makes electronic automotive parts, plans to shut down, laying off its 250-person work force starting next summer.

Autecs is a joint venture by German-owned auto supplier Robert Bosch Co. and Japan-based Unisia JECS Corp. It will cease to exist in June 2003, officials said.

The company will lay off 50 workers this June, 50 next December, then 150 when it closes in 2003.

``Basically, our relationship with Autecs' customers is changing, and we're not supplying those customers,'' Bosch spokeswoman Becky MacDonald said. ``We're seeing no new business at this facility at this point.''

Autecs' main customers are automakers Nissan, Subaru and Volkswagen.
