Winfield-Wayne game moved to Thursday
WAYNE — Winfield visits Wayne in a 7 p.m. Thursday high school football game.
The contest at Pioneer Field was moved from Friday because of Hurricane Florence impacting the Tri-State.
The Wayne Pioneers (0-2) are looking for their first win of the season. Wayne lost its opener against Spring Valley, 49-8, and lost to Mingo Central, 29-24.Wayne’s ground game has yet to thrive this season in coach Tommy Harmon’s bread and butter wing T offense. The Pioneers are averaging 3.8 yards per carry with 325 yards on 85 rushes. Wayne’s defense has allowed more than 250 rushing yards per game.
Winfield (1-2) lost last week to Chapmanville, 21-12. The Chapmanville Tigers rushed for 195 yards while the Pioneers had only 183 total yards.
