PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Mario Lemieux’s sore hip, that was operated on last month, will keep the Pittsburgh Penguins star out at least one more game and probably two.
Lemieux will miss his second straight game Wednesday against Vancouver and most likely will sit out Friday’s game at Nashville, too.
``I’m just going to give it some time,″ Lemieux said Tuesday.
Lemieux, who has missed nine of 20 games this season because of problems related to his right hip, said he might return on Saturday when the Penguins play Buffalo at home.
The owner-turned-player returned a week earlier than expected from his Oct. 29 arthroscopic surgery and played three games with lingering soreness.
Lemieux had no goals and three assists in those games and has not skated since an ineffective outing Nov. 14 against the New York Islanders.
Penguins coach Rick Kehoe encouraged Lemieux to stay out until he’s healthy.
``We discussed it as a coaching staff,″ Kehoe said. ``We want him at 100 percent. We don’t want him at 80 or 85 percent. There’s no use fooling around with it. Let’s get him at 100 percent and go from there.″
The Penguins are 3-4-2 without Lemieux, who has one goal, nine assists and a minus-3 rating in 11 games. Pittsburgh has 15 goals in the games he missed.
