Royals Send Etherton to Triple-A
SEATTLE (AP) _ The Kansas City Royals sent right-hander Seth Etherton to Triple-A Omaha on Monday, two days after he allowed seven runs in 2 2-3 innings.
The Royals called up right-hander Leo Nunez from Omaha to take Etherton’s roster spot, although Nunez will work out of the bullpen. Etherton was scheduled to start Thursday against Texas, but manager Buddy Bell said he hasn’t decided who will take Etherton’s spot in the rotation.
``Because of the way our schedule is, we needed help in our bullpen,″ Bell said.
Etherton was making his second start against Seattle. He allowed four hits, but walked four.
Nunez will be making his second appearance with the Royals. He pitched 2 1-3 innings in relief May 24 against Detroit.
