Police: Barnstable man opens fire to quiet tenants
BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — A Barnstable man has been charged with firing a gun in his own home in attempt to get his upstairs neighbors to shut up.
Police say 66-year-old George Rackliffe is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges including assault, injury to personal property, and carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
Police tell the Cape Cod Times (http://bit.ly/10X3ORk) that Rackliffe fired eight shots from a licensed handgun at the heat shield on his wood stove at about 5 p.m. Friday because he was tired of listening to his upstairs tenants argue.
He though the metal heat shield would stop the bullets, but police say three penetrated the walls of the home next door. Three adults and two children were home at the time, but unhurt.
