Bridgeport: Pedestrian grave after he was hit by car
BRIDGEPORT — Police say that a pedestrian is in grave condition after being struck by a car early Friday morning.
The pedestrian, identified as Anthony Johnson, 31, was near his East End home on East Avenue when he was struck by a black Lexus at about 12:45 a.m. Friday. The motorist, who was not identified, stopped and immediately telephoned 911, and is cooperating with police.
Police say that the car carried the Johnson a short distance before he dropped to the pavement. He is listed in grave condition with a fractured right hip and severe facial trauma, with most of the injuries to the right side of his head and body.
He was transported by ambulance to at Bridgeport Hospital and he was since admitted to Yale New Haven Hospital.
The accident reconstruction team responded and took control of the investigation. Police say that the motorists passed a field sobriety test.
