Michael Bankers, 38, Poynette

December 30, 2018

Michael Bankers of Poynette passed away on Dec. 25, 2018.

He was born on March 25, 1980, to Susan (Scudiero) Purves and Brian Bankers. Michael grew up on Mill Street in Poynette with his mom and his stepfather, Kevin Purves, and siblings, Juanita, Kevin, and Kayla. He was all boy and loved winters where he spent time ice fishing, skating, and sledding down the big hill at the family home. Michael also looked forward to spending time with his father in Pardeeville and enjoyed swimming at Park Lake and canoeing on Lower Lake. Michael always seemed to find his peace while listening to music, which had a way of calming him.

Michael developed an addiction that he battled for all of his adult life. This made for a rough life for him and for those who loved him. He was a lost soul in a hard world. But Michael had some very good friends who stuck by his side through it all. Lisa, you, Marcus and Jeremy showed Michael the meaning of true friendship. He was grateful to have you and we will never forget the kindness you have shown.

Michael is survived by his mother; his sister, Juanita (Casey) Tomlinson; and his brother, Kevin Purves Jr. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews, Leah, Jesse, Wyatt, Josie, Maurice and Makaylah; his loving grandmother, Florence Bankers; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Brian Bankers; his stepfather, Kevin Purves; his sister, Kayla Purves; both his maternal grandparents; his paternal grandfather; and both his step-grandparents.

Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Poynette. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. “Always help someone. You might be the only person that does.”

Online condolences may be made at grassefs.com. Grasse Funeral Service in Pardeeville is serving the family.
