Ringing In The Season Of Generosity

The Salvation Army of Wilkes-Barre kicked off its annual red kettle fundraising campaign Wednesday at Schiel’s Family Market in Wilkes-Barre. This holiday season, the Salvation Army seeks to raise more than $100,000 and donations help fund local programs. The human service organization serves more than 4,700 people each year in the Wilkes-Barre area. It provides transitional housing at the Kirby House in Wilkes-Barre as well as youth programs, summer cap, emergency disaster services, emergency food pantry, furniture and clothing, assistance for families at Christmas, budget counseling, Sunday school, church services, pastoral care, nursing home visits and more. Community members can place monetary donations inside the red kettles, which will be stationed in prominent retail locations like Schiel’s, Boscov’s, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Macy’s and Big Lots until Dec. 24. In addition to the red kettles, anyone who would like to make a financial donation can do so by visiting www.salvationarmywilkesbarre.org or by texting SAWILKES to 41444 to make an online gift.
