Slicers girls hoops thumps Memorial

La Porte’s girls basketball team cruised 63-33 at Elkhart Memorial on Thursday night. Ryin Ott guided the Slicers (9-4) with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, and Nyla Asad had 16 points and five steals. Alanti Biggers added four assists. La Porte led 11-6 after the opening quarter and had a commanding half advantage 32-16. The Slicers also held the Chargers to only three points in the third.

Cougars girls hoops drops decision

New Prairie’s girls basketball team lost 57-41 at Concord on Thursday night. Libby Lapczynski poured in 25 points for the Cougars (4-10), who got outscored 28-14 in the first half. But New Prairie actually won the third period 16-14.

NP girls, boys swimmers down Cavemen

New Prairie’s girls swim team beat Mishawaka 104-82 on the road on Thursday night. The Cougars’ 200-yard medley relay team of Amber Neuhold, Allie Harris, Madison Waltz, and Harmony Gadacz claimed first (2:20.20), and Savanah Keldsen won diving (199.45). Waltz placed first in the 500 freestyle (6:52.41), and New Prairie had many 2, 3, 4 finishes that helped secure the victory.

New Prairie’s boys swim team routed Mishawaka 115-68 on Thursday night on the road. The Cougars’ Luke Papai placed first in both the 200 free (2:01.94) and 500 free (5:35.53), and Dalton Thomas won the 50 free (23.03) and 100 free (51.49). Their 200 medley relay team of Tommy Eggleston, Thomas, Mason Young, and Roman Piergalski took first (1:48.26), and their 200 free relay quartet of Young, Graham Neiman, Papai, and Thomas tallied first (1:37.04). Their 400 free relay team of Piergalski, Papai, Conner Snyder, and Eggleston finished first (3:43.67).

Cougars-Slicers boys hoops set for Saturday

The New Prairie at La Porte JV & varsity boys basketball games originally scheduled for Dec. 1 will now be played Saturday at 5 p.m. at Slicer Gym.

LP moves swim meet, basketball game

The boys swim sectional originally scheduled at La Porte on Feb. 14 & 16 will now be at Chesterton High School. The Slicers JV & varsity boys basketball home games versus Goshen on Feb. 16 will now be played on Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. at Slicer Gym. La Porte will be one of the northern hosts for the girls basketball semistate on Feb. 16.

Wolves gymnastics meet change

Michigan City’s gymnastics team will now travel to Valparaiso for a meet on Jan. 10 at 6 p.m.
